Dr. Elizabeth Kagan Arleo is a Board-Certified radiologist specializing in Breast and Body Imaging, and a Fellow of the American College of Radiology (FACR), the Society of Breast Imaging (FSBI), and the American Association for Women in Radiology (FAAWR). Additionally, she is a Professor of Radiology at Weill Cornell Medical College (WCMC), an Attending Radiologist at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital (NYPH), and Editor-in-Chief of the radiology journal Clinical Imaging.

Dr. Arleo is a graduate of Yale College and Yale University Medical School. After an internship year in internal medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, she completed a Diagnostic Radiology residency at NYPH/WCMC. After staying on for a Fellowship in Women’s Imaging, she joined the faculty in 2010. Her clinical expertise is in breast and body imaging and she interprets a variety of studies including mammograms, ultrasounds, and MRIs. For her clinical work, she was selected by the Department of Radiology for the Distinguished House Staff Award in 2007.

Her research has focused on multiple topics in Women’s Imaging, as well as women in radiology and medicine. For her research, she received several education and research awards and grants, most recently including the 2018 Distinguished Educator Award from the New York Roentgen Society, and earlier on in her career, she was one of Aunt.Minnie.com’s semifinal candidates for Most Influential Radiology Researcher of 2013. 

Dr. Elizabeth Kagan Arleo is the Founder and Director of the Mentorship Program for Women in Radiology at NYPH/WCMC (2009-2010), which has been funded by the President’s Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) Leadership Fund. She was also the 2017 recipient of the Laurie H. Glimcher, M.D. Award for Excellence in Mentoring Women Faculty, the 2018 recipient of the New York Roentgen Society (NYRS) Distinguished Educator Award, and the 2022 recipient of the Alice Ettinger Distinguished Achievement Award recognizing lifetime achievements and lasting contributions to radiology from the AAWR.

At the national level, she has been highly involved in the American Association for Women Radiologists (AAWR), where she served as the 2019 President, and with the American College of Radiology (ACR), where she served on the ACR Commission on Breast Imaging, ACR Commission for Women and General Diversity, and ACR Commission for Human Resources.
