Children's Hospital Colorado Dr. Desi Schiess is a pediatric radiologist and physician informaticist based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She earned her undergraduate degree from Purdue University and medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine. She completed diagnostic radiology residency at the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) and pediatric radiology fellowship at Texas Children’s Hospital. Her clinical and research focus is pediatric bowel ultrasound. Desi is deeply committed to advancing women in radiology. During residency, she revitalized the UTSW Women in Radiology (WiR) group following a post-pandemic lull. Through collaboration with WiR leaders at the University of Pennsylvania, she co-founded the Women in Radiology Coalition, a grassroots initiative that has expanded to include numerous institutions nationwide. The Coalition hosts annual multi-institutional panel webinars, passing the torch to a new host institution each year. Since relocating to Colorado, Desi has led the WiR group at the University of Colorado and served on the Female Leadership and Excellence in Pediatric Subspecialties group for the American Academy of Pediatrics. She currently serves as a co-chair of the AAWR Pediatric Radiology Interest Group and AAWR Society Liaison to the Society for Pediatric Radiology. Desi enjoys figure skating (ice dance), skiing, hiking, and traveling. |
